(More customer reviews)Well of course if you're a fan of Bob Dylan you know by now he is NOT PREDICTABLE! The longer I listen to Dylan and note the changes in his style, voice and music the more I appreiate that he cannot be pushed into any kind of box. The only thing he seems to keep is his great gift of writing songs geared to the times and what's going on in the world. Thinking this might give insight into his life I wanted to read his words on his life. Just know that this is not a "tell all" about every aspect of his musical career and private life. You will still have a lot of questions unanswered, but that's not important in the long run. Dylan's impressions of 60's New York and the whole folk music/night club scene and his change in focus for his music are written in such a manner that makes you feel he is right there, letting you know what is was like, what he was thinking, how he felt. My hope is he will someday publish a volume 2 that carries on from this one. If you love Dylan, in all his incarnations, then you will probably like this book and want it for your collection. Also, ordered his book of Lyrics 1962 - 2001 at the same time and reading these also gives you a feeling for the phases of his life.
