(More customer reviews)"life and life only" is about just that...
about life... it's disappointments, it's challenges, it's rewards
"shoeless joe", "bang the drum slowly" and "man on spikes" are three of the best in the category
this book merits inclusion with these big three
the author follows the life of a gifted child athlete into his 50's and incorporates what was happening in the country at each stage on his lifeline
it also incorporates the protaganist's love of the art of bob dylan and how his life is enriched and affected by music in general and dylan specifically... this is a new and welcome hook to the genre
if you like either baseball, music or stories about the persistence of a good and principled man in the face of the daily challenges of living then this book is for you... if you like all three then this is a home run
