His transcendence and impact on American music and culture in the 20th century is contemplated by both avid admirers and, on occasion, even caustic conservative critics... Best of all, though, this volume pays proper attention to Dylan's work in the last 10-20 years -- a startling and welcome achievement for a Dylan commentary.
